About Us

Our Mission

Founded in 2019, RunBangla International introduced Bangladesh’s first ever internationally certified distance running event. We remain fully committed to the national running community, elevating the sport through world-class, internationally certified races. Our events inspire runners of every level to push their limits, strengthen community bonds, and experience the life-changing power of running—uniting athletes across Bangladesh and the world.

Our Story

RunBangla International (RBI) was founded in January 2019 by Jon Boka and a dedicated team of running enthusiasts from Bangladesh and around the world. The concept took shape over the preceding three years through extensive travel across Bangladesh, combined with planning and research in Dhaka and New York City.

Our vision has always been simple yet ambitious: to elevate distance running in Bangladesh to true international standards. As the local running community grew rapidly, passionate runners and organizers united to create professionally managed events capable of standing alongside the world’s best races.

RBI introduced AIMS certified courses, cutting-edge RFID timing technology, and accurate measurements to deliver exceptional race experiences. Beyond organizing events, we focused on building a lasting foundation for the sport in Bangladesh.

We also committed to philanthropy from the start, using running as a platform to support meaningful national causes and unite communities.

Today, RunBangla International continues to expand as a vibrant platform connecting runners across Bangladesh and the globe. Through world-class races, strategic partnerships, and an active online community, we invite local and international athletes to discover Bangladesh’s spirit, culture, and beauty—one stride at a time.

About The Organizer

RunBangla International (RBI) is a passionate team of running enthusiasts from Bangladesh and across the globe, dedicated to growing and promoting distance running nationwide.

We organize professionally managed races featuring AIMS-certified courses and advanced RFID timing for precise, high-quality experiences. Beyond events, we foster a thriving community by connecting runners, highlighting races, and promoting healthy, active lifestyles.

Through partnerships with local and international supporters, RBI drives philanthropic impact and positive change. Guided by excellence and inclusivity, we continue to inspire runners of all levels and welcome participants from Bangladesh and beyond.

Guidelines for First-Time Runners

Start Training at Least 12 Weeks Before Race Day

Begin your training at least three months before the race to give your body enough time to adapt to running. Start with shorter distances and gradually increase your weekly mileage. Include rest days and light cross-training such as walking, cycling, or stretching to avoid injuries and build endurance safely.

Hydrate Well in the Days Leading Up to the Race

Proper hydration is essential for performance and recovery. Drink water regularly in the days before the race rather than trying to drink a large amount on race morning. You can also include electrolyte drinks if needed. Avoid excessive caffeine or sugary drinks that may dehydrate you.

Wear Comfortable, Running Shoes

Always run in shoes that you have already used during training. New shoes can cause blisters or discomfort during the race. Choose lightweight, well-fitted running shoes with proper cushioning and support. Make sure your socks are also comfortable and moisture-absorbing.

Arrive Early to Your Assembly Point

Plan to reach the race venue at least 45–60 minutes before the start time. This will give you enough time to warm up, find your starting corral, use restrooms, and mentally prepare for the race. Arriving early also helps you avoid last-minute stress.

Don’t Start Too Fast — Pace Yourself

Many new runners make the mistake of starting too quickly due to excitement. Begin at a comfortable pace that matches your training speed. Focus on steady breathing and consistent rhythm. Saving your energy for the later part of the race will help you finish strong and enjoy the experience.

It’s not the destination but the journey that truly matters. Overcoming challenges, learning from experiences, and growing stronger with every step—that is the real achievement.
